I was smitten with the design of this dress, but also the workmanship was outstanding! I knew Maddy James Clothing was to become a clothing company that I would watch closely in hopes of purchasing more items. When I shared some of the photos above, I received so many comments and messages asking about the dress. When the photos were shared with Andrea, she contacted me and asked if I would ever be interested in working with her to feature some of her designs. Would I?!? I told her to contact me ANY time!
My next purchase was a Christmas top purchased through another showcase. It arrived, and as expected, was amazing! It made the perfect companion for some of our Christmas celebrations. It was very well made using quality fabrics, and a design that looked lovely on Georgia. I should also note that Georgia is a little picky about her clothing, and no matter how beautiful it is, if it doesn't feel good on, she will not wear it. She loves her Maddy James Clothing pieces!
Andrea contacted me about photographing an Easter dress for her, and I was so glad to be able to help her out. The Bunny Love dress goes on sale on January 24 at 8PM CT/9PM ET, ensuring that they will arrive in plenty of time for Easter. I hope you will consider Maddy James Clothing for your little one's Easter attire. You will not be disappointed! Andrea has a great eye to detail in fabric selection, design, and construction. Georgia LOVED wearing the Bunny Love dress, and I loved how she looked in it. Such a classic design with timeless fabrics and finishing touches.
So if you enjoy dressing your little girl like a little girl, Maddy James Clothing will most likely have something just for you. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about ordering. If you are local to me, I would also be happy to let you look over our pieces and help you to make shoe and accessory choices to bring your entire outfit together. And in case you are interested in the world of Buying-Selling-Trading little girls' custom clothing, you can find the Maddy James Clothing BST page here.

On December 20, 2016, Wade was Christmas shopping with his mom when he became short of breath and complained of a headache. He was taken to a local ER, examined, and quickly transferred to a hospital where specialists could immediately begin treating him. Wade was in a blast crisis and at a high risk for a stroke due to tumor lysis syndrome as a result of acute leukemia. Lumbar puncture and bone marrow aspiration were later performed. Wade's final diagnosis was phenotyped as B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is in the very high risk category and his treatment will have to be more aggressive, whereas the cancer is not only in his peripheral blood, but also in his spinal column. He has been receiving intrathecal chemo (by lumbar puncture with chemo given directly into the spinal fluid) and chemo via port the same day. He's also on daily oral medications as part of his treatment plan. Wade will additionally undergo cranial radiation as his treatment progresses. He is remaining strong and positive. The doctors and nurses are in disbelief as to how well he has responded so far. He has had numerous transfusions and several days spent in bed from fatigue but he has remained polite and never lost his funny personality that we all love! He celebrated Christmas and his 16th birthday in the PICU without complaint. The prayers that have been spoken on his behalf and on behalf of our family are the most cherished gift of all. Please continue to pray. And just in case the blast cells didn't get the message....the battle is on!!! You picked the wrong boy because I didn't raise my sons to back down from a fight!
What I'm offering up isn't much, but I would love for more of us to rally around Wade in a big way. There are lots of expenses coming up for Wade and his family as they travel to Cincinnati for treatments. The greatest way, besides prayer, that we can support them right now is with monetary donations. So here is what I'm offering and what you have to do:
1. visit Wade's GoFundMe page and make a minimum $10 donation. Only donations made from January 19, 2017-February 1, 2017 will be entered.
2. visit this post on my business page and post a screen shot of your donation or your donation receipt from your email, with the date it was made visible, in the comments.
By February 5, 2017, I will announce one winner from all donations made between January 19, 2017, and February 1, 2017 to receive the following prize:
*a 30 minute outdoor photo session for up to 5 immediate family members, valid February 5, 2017 - August 31, 2017
*10 digital downloads with printing rights from that session
Now, please, go support Wade and his family!
Blessings,
Nicole

This year, instead of the usual birthday session, Carrie chose for me to photograph Parker's party. We all had a great time at Gatti's with the birthday girl, doing all of the usual birthday party stuff. It was lots of fun watching her open her gifts. She was so excited about each one. She was so cute blowing out her candle, and smiling as everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to her. She very much enjoyed playing all of the games after enjoying pizza and cupcakes.
Here is a look at Parker's special day.

This spring, her family became a little larger with the addition of Aaron. Big sister Savannah was so excited to welcome a little brother, as were Georgie & Jason. I was thrilled that she hired me for her newborn session. I photographed them in the comfort of their own home in a lifestyle/traditional combination session. The images turned out perfectly. Aaron was an angel during his session. I just love the happy expressions captured during our time together!

So when I log in to my Facebook account and see a message that begins,
"Hey, I need a dress modeled..."
I get excited. I love working with custom designers to help them showcase the beauty of their latest creations!
Only this message was a little different. April at Sew Chill needed her photos quickly for an upcoming Zulily sale. And she didn't only need a size 6/7 model, she needed a size 2T model. She also had a specific request for the 2T model. She wanted a blonde. Boy, did I have a blonde for her! My niece, Parker, is as blonde as they come. After sharing Parker's picture with her, April was excited, and so was I! She shipped the dresses to me, and 2 days later, they were in my mailbox, and we went to work.
The girls both loved the dresses. They are so soft and comfy. And the blue is such a gorgeous hue!
Parker also got to model some red & white checked bloomers. We styled her in a shirt from Georgia's closet, and a headband from Piper's stash. She loved it!
The Zulily sale starts on Sunday, July 26, at 9:00 a.m. ET. Just type "Sew Chill" in the search box on the site.
I hope you'll all go check out the great items offered by Sew Chill. You won't be disappointed!
Blessings,
Nicole
I was hired by Ella's mom to capture a family birthday session in celebration of the baby beauty turning one. She knew a lot about what she wanted, she just needed me to photograph everything. We planned an outdoor session at The Dalton Farm, including a cake smash and helium-filled balloons. Here is a glimpse into the session. I had such a great time photographing this family!
Flashback to May 23. Eva & Roman were originally scheduled for a session with me on May 2, but due to a last-minute scheduling conflict, they had to cancel. I was happy to be able to reschedule them when I added a second round of Farm Fresh mini sessions. They were their usual happy selves during our session, and I knew I had captured some beautiful shots. I could not wait to share! And then Joanna said, "Don't share anything publicly on Facebook, because some of these images will be Father's Day gifts." WHAT?!? LOL!
So, for weeks, I've been DYING to share these images. I've been given the green light by Joanna to share some sneak peeks now, as well as the word that Rafael loved his Father's Day gifts that were created using my images. That makes the secret-keeping worth it!
Blessings,
Nicole
P.S. I'm becoming stellar at keeping secrets! Who's next for a top-secret session?
I so enjoyed seeing Abram again! I had last photographed him during my fall mini sessions, and he had grown so much since then. He was mobile, and flirting with Georgia ;) and showing off. It was the sweetest thing ever!
Natasha brought Parker, Kenleigh, & Bennett. They were scheduled for the original sessions, but due to a family member's sudden illness the night before their first appointment, they had to cancel. I was so glad they were able to make it this time!
The Leslie children were next on my schedule. Christian, Sam, & Kaylee were last in front of my camera in November 2013, so it had been a while. They were a joy to photograph, just like before, with Sam having trouble holding it together due to fits of laughter. They were lots of fun!
Rebekah was my lucky 2,500th like on my Facebook page. She was rewarded with a coupon to use toward a print purchase. She showed up for her session with her little family looking adorable. This was a first meeting for us, but I'm already looking forward to more sessions with them.
I had another great day of weather for my second round of sessions, just like the first round. God surely blesses me to be able to pull off these sessions. I am thankful to Him, and to my clients for their continued trust that they place in me at each session.
Blessings

]]>Olivia contacted me last summer about scheduling a session in the country. She said she was a simple girl, and her main goal was to be photographed with a shotgun that had been passed down through the generations in her family. I had the perfect country setting (www.facebook.com/thedaltonfarm), and she thought it was a great one, so I scheduled her and began counting down the days. I took a little peek at Olivia's Facebook page during the countdown, and was very excited because she was drop-dead gorgeous! I was so anxious!! When she arrived and turned out to be a total sweetheart, I was so thankful. God is so good to me, and sends me the best clients!
Here is a look at how her first Senior session went:
So, of course, I was completely elated when Olivia contacted me again in the early spring of this year to schedule a second session. She still wanted a country setting, but with a little more glamour than before. She said she was going to "girl it up" for the second session, and that there would be no shotguns. I suggested to her hanging a chandelier in my barn, and using lace and bling IN THE BARN. She loved the idea, so the countdown to session day with Olivia began once again. She showed up with only 2 outfits, but it quickly became evident that she had PLENTY to work with.
Here is a look at how session two went:
I am blessed to have worked with so many fantastic 2015 Seniors. All of you have been great, and I wish you well in all of your future endeavors.
Blessings,
Nicole

Anyway, Christie and her guys were an absolute joy to photograph. I hope to have them back soon for more sessions! And I promise, Dustin & Dylan, not to make you pose like girls ;)

I am always nervous when I schedule outdoor sessions. But a full day of outdoor mini sessions with several participants over a span of several hours? Yeah, that makes me more nervous than normal. The weather can be so unpredictable, and spring weather in WV is even more unpredictable than a lot of places. When May 2 finally rolled around, I could not have been happier. The weather was PERFECT, and the location looked amazing! We were truly blessed with a picture-perfect day, and all participants arrived looking wonderfully-prepared. I was more than happy to spend such a beautiful day at The Dalton Farm with some beautiful people! Nothing beats a fun day of photos!
The O'Neal family were first on deck. Jen's kids are early risers, so she always likes the earliest appointments I have available in order to catch them when they're in their happiest moods. Julianna and Lawson did so well, and Jennifer and Luke looked lovely, especially in their couple shots.
Cooper was next. His mom herds a large brood of young'uns, so things are always hectic for them. I empathize with her greatly, as I know how much of a task that can be. I hadn't photographed Cooper since his newborn session, and I was thrilled to have him with me again. He is just adorable. Lisa says even though he is a content baby and never cries, he just doesn't smile a lot. So we didn't get many smiley pictures, but what we got was gorgeous just the same.
The Workman family showed up next. I had my first session with Colton & Sawyer at Easter, and their mom was so happy that she chose me again to photograph them. The boys looked so handsome, and this time, I was even able to get a few shots of the entire family. The boys had fun playing and exploring their surroundings at the farm, so I just tagged along and captured their fun.
Next were the Kirkendall kiddos. It had been about 1.5 years since I had photographed Will & Myah. Boy, how they had grown! They are beautiful children, and the photos I did of them together were some of my favorites. They have the sweetest personalities, and have accepted their "big brother - little sister" roles perfectly. I just loved how they interacted with one another.
Then it was time for Gage. He showed up ready for his farm session with a leather vest, a duster (long cowboy coat), a cowboy hat, and some cap guns. He is so handsome, and he did a fabulous job during his session! I hadn't photographed him in almost 2 years, so there was a big change in him as well. I had so much fun with Gage!
Sienna and Layla were next. These girls are my nieces, the daughters of my brother. They reside in the state of Washington, and I hadn't seen them in over 3 years. They had just gotten into WV late the night before our session. I was thrilled to see them, and had a blast photographing them (and answering their 10 million questions) at the farm. They are precious, and I am so thankful that they are with us for the summer!
As things were winding down, Gunner & Harlow showed up for their session. Sara never disappoints in her wardrobe choices. The kids always look amazing! Gunner is such a sweet big brother, so protective and caring toward Harlow. And though Harlow is slow to warm up, once you get her started smiling, she can't stop! I always love having them for sessions. They are a pure pleasure to photograph.
Last in the long list of sessions was Danny. His grandma had contacted me about doing this session as his first birthday session, so I assured her that I'd work some number 1's into some of Danny's pictures during editing. I had no idea that he'd actually be holding up one little index finger in some of the pictures! It was almost like he knew what he was there for. He also had a great time running free in the hay field, so I just clicked as he ran. He is an adorable child, and his gallery turned out beautifully!
I feel so honored to have been trusted by so many people to capture their families on this day. I enjoyed every minute of it, and the response was so great, that a second day of Farm Fresh mini sessions has been added. We have to get it done before the hay is cut, so let's all keep our fingers crossed that Mother Nature smiles on us with another day of perfect weather.
Blessings,
Nicole

Sneak peeks? NO. Those cannot be shared! The family portrait is a surprise, after all, and not only is Jeraldine the Matriarch on Facebook, but she is very active on Facebook and good at being "nosy" (per her family) and finding out things that she isn't supposed to know. Insert big sad face with tears! Not really, but you know...
So sneak peeks are shared via Facebook Messenger. Editing commences like wildfire so that the gallery can be shared with the participants ASAP. Everyone must work together quickly to choose which image will become the gift. The decision is made, the print is ordered and delivered to the participants, and the gift is presented to Jeraldine on Mother's Day. All is well, and now the "secret" is out! Sneak peeks can finally be shared! All is now well in my world too. So not only am I sharing images here on the blog, but you should all brace yourselves for possible over-sharing on my Facebook page.
Thank you, Jennifer, for inviting me to capture your family and to help create the perfect gift for your grandmother. Your family is top-notch, and I can't wait to work with all of you again!

Well, I didn't realize until my shirts had already been printed & shipped to me that my design idea wasn't going to seem very original at all for very long in my area. In fact, the potential for confusion with another artist was going to be a very big possibility after her announcement that she was going to be using the same front design, so, it was back to the drawing board for an even better design for NDP! I have decided to use BOTH of the following designs on the fronts of my new shirts, and to keep my logo on the back as it is on the first shirts.
So, I now have one question -- who wants to win a VERY limited edition, first-run "hello, gorgeous!" NDP t-shirt? All you have to do to be entered to win a shirt is to comment on THIS blog post with "I want to win!". I'll accept entries until April 30, 2015, at 11:59:59 p.m. EDT. Winner will be announced in a blog post by May 5, 2015, and will be notified by email or Facebook. The winner will have their choice of available color (electric green, lilac, charcoal, or black) and available size (adult S-XL) of the original shirt design. GOOD LUCK!
Want an extra entry? Share this blog post publicly online, and post the link to your share in a separate comment. Share it everywhere you make posts (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.). Each public share and comment with the link here will count as one extra entry each. Maximum of one entry per public share per online forum per person. Winner is responsible for pick up or shipping cost.
Blessings,
Nicole

In addition to the 10 free digital images, if I get 15 unique comments on this blog post (see below to comment) before May 1, I'll give Jessica an 11x14 mounted print of her choice from this session.

]]>Nothing could have thrilled me more, as a photographer-mom, than to have my child to request a photo session as her birthday gift from me. And Piper knew just what she wanted, too! She wanted a session in downtown Charleston, a town I'd never shot in, as well as some sweet shots in a bakery. I don't know where she came up with the idea, but I went right to work. I contacted Sugar Pie Bakery, and Rachel was gracious enough to say, "Sounds like fun! Come on in!". We started our morning off in the bakery, with helium-filled balloons, and plenty of sweet treats. Rachel was very gracious, telling me to feel free to move anything that we needed to in order to get the photos we imagined. We picked our goodies from display cases that housed deliciousness like I'd never had before! I could have stayed there all day, indulging ;) But, there was more work to be done.
We then moved to the historic area of downtown Charleston. We could have stayed there for hours, had the rain clouds not chased us away. It was so beautiful where we were, and there were so many photo opportunities to be had. I'm excited to go back there and shoot some more soon.
The downtown area and the bakery allowed me to be able to capture Piper as she is in real life at age 13. She's a natural beauty, and that beauty radiates from the inside out! Well-behaved, highly-intelligent, and with a heart of pure gold! She doesn't give me a minute's trouble, and has been a joy since birth. My biggest goals in planning this session were to keep it age-appropriate and to make it fun. Both goals were accomplished.
Piper, being the total sweetheart that she is, wouldn't hear of going for her photo session without Georgia! So little sister tagged along and appeared in a few photos too. When I say Piper is the best, it's the absolute truth! I'm so blessed to call her mine.
Piper even snapped this one of Georgia herself:
Be sure to check out Sugar Pie Bakery for all of your delicious treats!

Autumn first came to me 2 years ago for a birthday session.....and a Halloween costume session. In April. LOL! She was spitfire, for sure! At 7 years old, she had her "photo sass" perfected, and could have given lessons. She still has her own ideas about how she wants her photos to look. She does 95% of her own posing, set arrangement, and wardrobe. She tells you when she wants to be photographed with and without her glasses, and when it's time to change outfits. She is a HOOT! I love photographing kids. The child/children sessions really are the heart of NDP. Autumn is a favorite! I can't wait to have her back for more. I hope she (and her family!) loves her birthday and Easter photos.
Miss Paisley visited on the same day for her final ONEder Year session. Our year together has flown by! I'm sure her parents and family are also finding it hard to believe that her first birthday is already upon them. Paisley's mom called me last year, in February, as I recall, and asked about booking a newborn session in April. She had been referred to me by her sister-in-law, who I had done a family session for a few months before. We set everything up, and the countdown to Paisley's arrival was underway. After her newborn session was completed, Brandy purchased a ONEder Year (baby's first year) package. I enjoyed each session so much! I always love watching the little ones grow and develop, and seeing their personalities start to shine. We did a summer session here at around 4 months of age, a Christmas-themed session at Paisley's home around 8 months of age, and then the final "cake smash" session was completed here, less than 2 weeks before her first birthday will officially be celebrated. I hope Dru & Brandy love the results of her last session. She has been a pure pleasure to photograph during her first year of life. I am already looking forward to many more sessions with Paisley and her family!

And don't forget about the Mother & Child classic portrait session I am giving away. Check the previous blog post to learn about how to enter to win an absolutely free session, just in time for Mother's Day!
I hosted my annual Easter mini sessions yesterday, and they were more fun than ever! Everyone showed up with the cutest outfits, and all enjoyed the set. I had some of my most loyal clients -- Brayden & Ryleigh, Allisyn, Autumn & Jaxon, and Allysa -- and some new clients that I can't wait to see again -- Colton & Sawyer, and Neveah, Chloe, & Daisy. It was a great day inside even though it was rainy & muddy outside. I managed to get lots of great shots from each session. It was an easy job, as all participants were the best EVER to work with and photograph.
Because I want to bring readers to my blog, I am going to offer one person who comments on this blog post a FREE Mother & Child mini session. These sessions will take place on April 25 at my in-home studio. The sessions will be classic poses between a mom and her child or children. It's always a great idea to include grandma and great-grandma as well, if possible, for a precious generations photo. You will get 3-5 digital images with a print release along with your free session. Up to 6 participants/session for this special event.
Blessings,
Nicole
Contest will run until March 31, 2015, at 11:59:59 p.m. No substitutions. No cash value. No rain checks. The only way to enter is to comment on THIS blog post! Good Luck!

Release day, or preview day, is always a BLAST when you are in the role of Jane (hostess) for a Matilda Jane Clothing trunk show. I try to host at least one in-home show each release, which is twice yearly. During my times as a Jane, I put together a little set for photo sessions, because what girl doesn't love to play dress up and be photographed!?
Jennifer, trunk keeper #712, has been taking care of me for more than a year, which is just a slightly shorter time than she has been a trunk keeper for Matilda Jane Clothing. I always enjoy our shows together, and my girls have grown quite fond of her little girl, who always accompanies her to my shows.
The current line is called Hello, Lovely. The second release is available now. If you are ever interested in ordering, go to the website and compile your wish list, then email it to [email protected]. Or you can message me directly and I'll be happy to walk you through the steps!
I am a huge fan of pastels, so this line makes me very happy! I hope you enjoy a small snippet of the fun that we had previewing Release 2.
If you are interested in being invited to one of my shows, please comment on this blog post, and share it with your friends who may be interested. It's always LOTS of fun!! I have made some great friends through buying Matilda Jane Clothing. I would love to add you to my group of girlfriends!

Slow down, time!
I've been photographing Kierigan since she was born. Actually, it was before she was born that I completed a family maternity session for her mom, dad & big sister. They were some of my first paying clients when I took the leap of starting my own business nearly 2.5 years ago. They have been loyal to me, and I always enjoy my sessions with Kierigan & crew. It even worked out that we vacationed at the same time, very close to each other last summer, so I got to do a family beach session for them even.
It's been such a pleasure to be part of Kierigan's special moments, milestones, and photographic life. I look forward to many more sessions with her and her family!

With this week's snowfall that added up to about 10", I decided at the last minute to have some snow day mini sessions. The night before the sessions were to take place, our region experienced record-shattering cold, with local temperatures of about -15°F. By the early afternoon, we had rebounded to around 20°F. The only participant hearty enough, besides my kiddos, to accept the invitation was Allisyn. She showed up dressed in her cute little snowsuit, hat & gloves, boots, and coat. She threw snowballs, made snow angels, and explored her arctic surroundings. She loved being outside, and did not want to leave when her session was over.
My kids had "playing in the snow" pictures on Tuesday, so this time, we decided to do some "dressed up with hot chocolate in the snow" shots. I think they turned out great, and I can really see how much my babies have grown and changed since last winter's snow session. Bittersweet, for sure.

As many of you who follow or are friends with my personal Facebook page know, we've been in the midst of a big birthday celebration for my family this weekend. My middle child and only son, Henry turned 11 today. My youngest daughter, Georgia, turned 7 on Thursday. I celebrated my birthday yesterday. In honor of all of our jubilation, I'd love to give away a gift to YOU! Up for grabs is an a la carte credit, good with any future session purchased other than a mini session, in the amount of my new age :)
How do you win? Be the first person to post my age on my Facebook business page, and I'll email you a coupon, valid until June 30, 2015.
The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 9, or as soon as the first person posts my age on my business Facebook page.
Good luck!

My first new clients of the day were Addyson & Cooper. Their mom, Kandi, had initially contacted me in hopes of scheduling a fall session a few months ago. Our schedules and weather prevented us from being able to get a fall session together, but as soon as I posted about my Valentine sessions, she was one of the first "in line"! These kids were so beautiful, and they were up for whatever poses or props I suggested. They even brought some of their own props! Their smiles were natural and unforced because, I believe, they were truly having a good time. I can't wait to have them back for more sessions!
My final session of the day was for a sibling duo and their older cousin. They all arrived a little leery of what may be about to happen, but they warmed up quickly. They all became eager participants once I told them that it was OK to pick up my paper heart decorations that were scattered about and throw them into the air. There were gorgeous smiles all around from that point forward. Kids having FUN are probably my favorite things to capture. Nothing beats that, in my book. I hope to have Zadriona, Kyleigh, & Rylan back for another session soon.
Blessings,
Nicole

I want to encourage you all to look over the website and make note of the updates to NDP for 2015. I have worked very hard to put together collections and sessions to meet every need and budget. I based many of my decisions on what my average client spent in 2014, and the most-often-ordered products. All updated offerings will be found in the drop-down menu under the "Pricing" tab by the end of the weekend.
I am so excited to begin offering in-home lifestyle sessions this year. I will spend up to 2 hours with your family, in your home, photographing you as you do arts & crafts together, as you read storybooks together, snuggled up in your bed, or even as you make mud pies in the back yard, and then put the kiddos into a big bubble bath! These sessions are my favorites. They are natural and un-posed. You just go about your activities, and I tag along and snap away. We can even do a couple of posed shots if you choose, but lifestyle photography is all about capturing your natural, un-coached interactions with one another as a family, doing a fun activity together. Immediately at the conclusion of your session, I will spend up to 30 minutes with you, discussing your plans for displaying my images in your home. I will gladly take measurements of your wall space, and offer suggestions and sample displays of what a gallery of beautiful framed prints, enchanting canvases, or breathtaking print wraps and standouts may look like. I even offer print collections if you already have frames and are just looking to update your display. 2-4 weeks after your session is completed, I will contact you to schedule a consultation in which you'll view your proof images online, and decide exactly what products and images you'd like to order. Deep discounts are offered on product collections that were built specifically with these in-home lifestyle sessions in mind. I will then personally deliver your order to you once all of your purchased products arrive, and I'll even help you with hanging and arranging at delivery if you wish. :) You'll be hearing me talk a lot about these sessions this year, as I did a couple in 2014 and they truly turned out to be my favorites!
I have updated my ONE-der Year - The Milestones Sessions, so be sure to take a look at that offering. It now includes a "cake smash" session at the 12 month sitting, as well as a canvas collection wall display, and a couple of other updates. I also added a Born Yesterday offering for moms who would like for me to come to the hospital and photograph their new bundle of joy. This is a lifestyle session for babies who are typically 24-4 8 hours old, and can be done as a "homecoming" session instead of at the hospital if you choose. This is a super way to preserve the memories of grandparents and siblings meeting the newest addition for the first time, or the extended family that will greet you upon your arrival home. It's also a perfect session for parents who like to bring baby home with no crowds or fanfare, to nap together, to relax in the family room, or settle into the rocking chair in the nursery. So many sweet images await capturing in baby's first 24-48 hours in this world!
I'm currently scheduling all types of sessions through June 2015. If you are planning to have a session with me in the first 5 months of this year, I can schedule you at your convenience. The sooner you are on my calendar, the better chance you have of securing your desired spot. I am already completely booked for January with the exception of 2 Valentine's Mini Sessions that haven't been claimed yet. If you are interested in reserving one of the two remaining slots on January 17, let me know.
I wish you all the best as we kick off 2015! I can't wait to work with you, whether you are a brand new client, or a current client. Contact me TODAY to discuss all that I offer. I know you will appreciate the great quality you will discover with NDP.
Blessings,
Nicole
A couple of weeks ago, I was put into contact with a boutique owner in Idaho who was looking for a “photographer with a beautiful daughter”. She creates beautiful dresses, and needed some shots done for her most recent creation. After several hours of discussion, we were able to agree to enter into collaboration with one another. Last week, the dress that Georgia would model arrived. She loved it instantly due to the fact that it had BUNNIES on it. I carefully looked it over, and was quite impressed with the quality of this hand-made beauty. As soon as time allowed, I got our things together and began shooting. It was exciting, and we shot over a 3 day period, for what totaled a little more than an hour. The boutique owner was thrilled with our results, and will begin taking orders for the dress Georgia modeled on February 27 at 6PM PST. I encourage you all to check out Bebe Sophie Custom Boutique via the web at www.facebook.com/bebesophie77, and via her Etsy shop at www.etsy.com/shop/BebeSophie. We look forward to working with Bebe Sophie again, and hope that you enjoy looking at my beautiful baby girl wearing Anna’s beautiful creations.
Be blessed,
Nicole
]]>As 2014 has quickly taken off, many new and exciting things are happening at Nicole Dalton Photography. My price list and session offerings have been updated, along with my product offerings. Some prices went up, and others went down. Some new products were added, and some were deleted due to being phased out by my lab. My session fees now include a print credit unless you purchase an all-digital session. All of these changes have taken place in order for me to serve you better. One thing that has stayed the same? The quality that you’ve come to expect from a session with me. You’ll be proud to hang my work on the walls of your home. I work hard to bring you exceptional quality portraits that will be sharp, bright, and vivid for years to come. Please feel free to take a look around my website and get an idea of the improvements I have made.
January was a busy month as I got back into the swing of things after taking a couple of weeks off to wrap up 2013. On January 18, I hosted Valentine’s Day mini sessions. Of course, my kids participated, and I had one new client (Maycie) and one return client (Allisyn). I was honored to be able to photograph Kyler and his expectant momma for a session. Kyler is always fun to photograph, and this recent session was no different. That little guy keeps me on my toes! Then I had the pleasure of photographing a couple who are expecting their first blessing. A fun fact about their session is that they are naming their first baby, a daughter, Pyper. Though the spelling is different, their baby girl will have the same name I gave to my first baby girl, Piper, almost 12 years ago. I’m looking forward to photographing their little Pyper in a few weeks when she makes her entrance into the world! I wrapped up the month of January with another new client, 6-month-old Wayde. He was such a sweetie! I hope to photograph him again soon.
I have LOTS of things already on my calendar for this year. I strongly urge you to contact me if you are considering booking a session with me. It is NEVER too early to reserve your desired time. For this month, I have the elementary and middle school Valentine dances to photograph, 2 first birthday parties, and1 high school Senior. And I am SO EXCITED to have 3 newborns on my schedule for March, and 2 newborns for April so far! This is why I’m encouraging everyone to BOOK EARLY if you plan to book to save yourself possible disappointment. I do my best to get everyone in, but I really hate to turn people away.
This month’s special is the STANDOUT. Standouts are a great way to showcase your favorite images! Your print is mounted on 1.5" thick lightweight foam board. Edges are finished in your choice of a black or white smooth trim. Until February 28, you can take $15 off the purchase price of any size standout that I offer.
Blessings,
Nicole
]]>Many things will remain the same, but you’ll also see lots of changes this year at NDP. One thing that remains the same as it has been from the inception of Nicole Dalton Photography is that my pricing is available on my website for everyone to see. No one is requested to contact me for pricing, though I welcome you to email, call, or message me on Facebook with any questions. I believe in everyone getting a fair price, and I won’t do for one client what I wouldn’t do for another, so there is no point in not keeping everything visible to everyone as far as my pricing is concerned.
The website has been revamped to reflect the new offerings that are in effect as of today. If you scheduled with me and confirmed your appointment by yesterday, you’ll have the option to pay 2013 prices or 2014 prices. I actually dropped my prices on a couple of things this year. The offerings that reflect an increased price have more to offer than before, so I think you’ll be pleased with what you see.
The first change you may notice is that sessions have been split into the following categories:
-General (Family | Child | Pet | Maternity | Engagement | Bridal)
-Senior
-Newborn
-Digital
-Mini
-Baby’s First Year
-Event
All sessions are available on 3 levels, and all come with print or print package credits. This credit is non-negotiable and non-transferrable. The top 2 levels of each offering also include discounts on purchases over and above your print credit. Senior and Newborn sessions purchased at the top level come with a free custom wallet box and a free custom accordion mini album, respectively. Mini session images will now come on custom-designed discs. Many sessions offer a free, custom Facebook timeline cover. I am continuing to offer 4 package levels, but the package contents have been changed to reflect frequent customer requests, and all now have the option of adding digital images. The top level package even comes with a free digital downloadable image.
A new offering this year is the digital session, in which you will receive all of the images in your online viewing gallery as a digital download. Clients purchasing the digital session will also receive a 10% discount on any prints or products ordered through me from those sessions. This discount applies to mini session participants as well. All digital sessions, mini sessions, and any purchased digital images will come to you with a lower-resolution, watermarked duplicate for sharing on the internet. I respectfully request that you not share your high-resolution, unmarked images online. Please tag or link my business page when you share any of my work on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. Refraining from sharing your unmarked images online keeps you and me both safer.
I eliminated one of my Baby’s First Year offerings, and streamlined what I kept. It’s more flexible than before, and gives you some freedom to schedule around baby’s milestones, which every parent hopes to have photographed. A new option with this session is adding a maternity mini session if you didn’t have or didn’t want a full maternity session. The Baby’s First Year session makes a great shower gift! Contact me if you are interested in purchasing a gift certificate for this, or any other, session. I also will be offering Birth Photography on a VERY limited basis, and will likely phase it out this year. But I will offer something new instead -- Baby's First Days. I will take appointments within the first 48 hours of baby's arrival, to come to the hospital or your home and spend up to 2 hours photographing encounters with parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts & uncles, cousins, and special friends with the new little one. These sessions are very casual, and more of a lifestyle session. Contact me for pricing.
I hope to begin making a blog post of each session this year. That means, I will share 1-2 sneak peeks on Facebook of each session, and the rest of the sneak peeks will be on my website. You will still be able to share your sneak peeks with family and friends online by sharing a link to the blog post containing your images.
I think that pretty much sums up the big changes for 2014. I invite you all to take a look around the website and check out my updates for yourselves. I would be happy to answer questions for you, and would love to schedule you for a session. I am currently booking all available dates for 2014, so don’t ever feel like it’s too early to reserve your time for a session later in the year. As always, I can travel up to 25 miles to photograph in a location of your choice. I can travel up to 50 miles one-way for an additional $35. I can do indoor sessions in my in-home studio, as well.
I want to make sure all of you are also aware that I am scheduling my Valentine’s Day mini sessions now. I have January 11, 2014, as the reserved date for these sessions. Clients who take part in the mini sessions on that date will receive a sheet of free wallet-sized custom Valentine cards. I can do Valentine’s Day mini sessions on any available day throughout the month of January, but only the clients who are photographed on the reserved date will get the more elaborate set and the free sheet of wallets.
I am still planning to offer a sale item monthly. This month’s sale item will be the Print Wrap. The Print Wrap is your image, printed on photo paper, laminated, and wrapped around the edges. It is then mounted to a block and arrives ready to hang – no framing! The Print Wraps are absolutely gorgeous, and a perfect accent to any home. I am offering these for $10 off any size throughout this month. To qualify for the sale price, you must purchase the print wrap by January 31, 2014. The sizes and sale prices will be as follows for this month:
*8x12 print wrap - $70
*11x14 print wrap - $90
*10x20 panoramic print wrap - $100
*16x24 print wrap - $140
And now for what many of you have been waiting for…the 5x7 Zin frame + 5x7 print winner. I would like to offer my congratulations to:
TERESA SPARKS
Teresa, please message me to choose your image and get the details on the frame.
I appreciate all of the ratings and the recommendations that each of you left. I encourage you to continue offering your feedback, so I can continue to offer these fun little rewards. I appreciate the support you all extended to me in 2013. I am looking forward to even bigger and better things in 2014, and I hope you’ll continue to look to me for all of your photographic needs!
Blessings,
Nicole

I was honored this weekend past, to be a part of a great event benefitting a great organization. I was invited by my sister, Tara, a volunteer with the Boston Terrier Rescue Team of the Carolinas, to participate in a photo fundraiser event. I traveled to Huntersville, NC, just outside of Charlotte, and got ready to go to work. I spent several hours on Saturday photographing several doggies, many of whom are either sanctuary pets, or adopted/rescue pets. They were all so sweet, well-behaved, and photogenic!
One of the best parts of Saturday, was that my kids accompanied me on my journey, and were able to volunteer their time as well, walking the dogs and giving them water and treats while they waited for their sessions. They enjoyed themselves immensely, and learned a lesson about giving back.
Enjoy the slideshow, and stay tuned to my Facebook for information about upcoming Pet Portraiture events.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that I am available to photograph events that you may be planning or attending. Hiring me for a one-hour period of time will get you at least 20 proofs in an online gallery from which to order. Hiring me for a two-hour time period will get you at least 35 proofs. Wouldn't it be a lot easier to share photos by giving all of your friends and family members the login information, and allowing them to order the prints they wish?
If you are planning a birthday party for your child, and want to take part in the festivities instead of trying to capture all of the events, let me help you. If you are attending a family reunion, and would like to spend time catching up with your family, I can be there to photograph all of the fun.
What are some other photo-worthy events and occasions? Birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, homecomings, banquets, sporting events, and so much more. Even specialty occasions, such as birth announcements, gender reveal parties, marriage proposals, and "welcome home soldier" events.
There are virtually limitless possibilities - I am available to photograph nearly any occasion.
Event pricing is $50 for up to one hour, and $75 for up to two hours. From two to four hours is $125. Any event that requires more than four hours will be quoted per occasion. Pricing includes travel up to 25 miles. If the event is more than 25 miles of travel, a $15 fee will apply. I cannot schedule events over 50 miles away. A $25 non-refundable deposit is due upon scheduling. Dates will not be held without the deposit. The deposit will be applied to the photography fee upon completion of the event. Deposits will not be returned in the event of cancellation. For more information, e-mail [email protected].
As I believe there should be at least two photographers to aptly capture a wedding, I cannot offer wedding photography services at this time.

Since my recent Valentine's Day photo sessions were strictly for couples, I thought I would offer something to my clients, who may be looking for something for their kids for Valentine's Day. I will take a photo of your child or children, from a previous Nicole Dalton Photography photo session, and create personalized Valentine's Day cards. I have created personalized Valentines for my own children for years, and they love passing out cards with their pictures and names on them! Choose from 2 - 5"x7", 2 - 4"x6", or 8 Wallets - any one set for only $5.00!
Please e-mail [email protected] to place your order. All orders must be paid in full no later than Friday, February 1, 2013, to ensure delivery by Valentine's Day!
Additionally, I am thrilled to announce that I am now a Zin Frames retailer. If you are looking for gorgeous, custom frames to display your photos in, these are an excellent choice. I encourage you to visit their web site to view their vast selection of high-quality, designer frames.
The prices and shipping charges reflected on their web site are your cost! I would be happy to help design your custom frame, and place an order for you! Please get in touch with me regarding any questions that you may have. I expect to have samples on-hand very soon.
God bless you!
Be well,
Nicole

2012. My first "year" in business. Actually, it was 2 1/2 months. In many ways, it felt like a year. I still can't believe I'm really doing this. I am living my dream. I feel so blessed to be doing this, and so honored that so many of you have trusted me with your special moments.
I ended 2012 a portrait session for a very special family; the photos shown in the slideshow. It is always a blessing to experience the coming together of family. This one in particular, is separated most of the time by a few hundred miles.
Seeing them in each others' company close to the holiday, and being able to weave that meeting into a tapestry of fun photos is a "work" experience I will never forget. I pray that each of you was able to enjoy your family for the holidays too!
I have so MANY plans for 2013, which will be my first full year in business. I am working hard at educating myself in order to bring you, my clients, what you deserve - beautiful memories, forever preserved. I have several mini session ideas that I hope to bring to fruition this year. I also anticipate upcoming birth/hospital and newborn sessions. I hope to put together a "Baby's First Year" package that will be the perfect baby shower gift for any mom-to-be. As always, I am available to listen to your ideas, and help you make them a reality.
There are times in our lives that seem so vivid right now, while you're living them, and you think you will never forget every detail. With the passing of time, we find the small details can get lost in the big picture. The best way to ensure that those memories last a lifetime, is to have them digitally documented. I can assist you with designing a gallery, however big or small, of your favorite shots. You can order prints, framed prints, or even canvases. The array of sizes and styles is vast. There is something to fit every budget and every bare wall.
I'd like to remind you all that travel within a 25-mile radius from my home is included in all session fees. Let me come to you. Pictures in your home, or your back yard will give your portraits that special, personalized touch. If you are planning a family gathering, large or small, contact me about photographing your get-together. Perhaps you have family visiting from out-of-town that you would like to have photographed. Maybe you have a group of your closest friends together for a birthday party or reunion. I would love to help you document these times, so the memories can be celebrated long after they're made!
Contact me to book your session today. Babies don't stay babies forever. Grandparents may not be around forever. You won't be pregnant forever. Beautiful pictures are an investment you will not regret...unless you put it off until it's too late. You have your own beginnings and endings too - let's make them last forever.
Get in touch with me for questions regarding my full range of services offered. Helping you preserve beautiful memories is what I love to do.
Be well,
Nicole

Eight weeks in business. How much can one accomplish in that period of time? How about photographing 39 sessions (including Mini Sessions) and four events, hosting a very successful Black Friday-Cyber Monday sale and one contest, launching a web site and Facebook page, and creating and booking future events and sessions as far ahead as June, 2013! And that is just the tip of the iceberg! Let's not forget that I have three young children, and work part-time as a Registered Nurse. Is your head spinning yet? Mine is!
I have so many ideas swirling around in my head DAILY. There are lots of exciting happenings in the works behind the scenes. I have been blessed with the GREATEST help in getting this whole thing off the ground. I could not have done it alone. I appreciate the support of my family, friends, and community so much more than any of you could ever realize.
I would like to remind everyone about the Forever Mine sessions that are scheduled for January 12, 2013. These sessions are for couples only (no families or children), and would make the SWEETEST gift for your sweetie. Space will be VERY limited. Think lovey-dovey, snuggled-together poses that will be forever cherished. The session fee is $100 (tax included). For that price, you will get a half-hour session, a CD of 5-10 fully-edited, high-resolution images, and a print release, plus a 5x7 Luxe frame in your choice of color with a print of your favorite pose. This is an UNBEATABLE value! You can purchase a gift certificate solely for this session to present to your love as a Christmas gift if you're interested.
Also be sure to check out a new and exclusive service at Nicole Dalton Photography - Fauxto(SM) Painting. If you are interested in ordering a canvas, consider upgrading to this service to make your canvas REALLY look like an oil painting. The upgrade charge is a flat $25.00 on any size canvas. There are some beautiful examples of what to expect with this option on my web site - CLICK HERE!
I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, and the happiest of New Years. I look forward to photographing all of you soon, whether again, or for the first time. God bless you!
Be Well,
Nicole

The anticipation, preparation, and execution are now complete. The first-ever Christmas Mini Sessions by Nicole Dalton Photography this past Saturday, were a TERRIFIC success! It was a great pleasure for me to photograph so many sessions. The smiling faces, adorable outfits, and enjoyable interactions lasted for more than six hours. There was a steady stream of new clients all day long. Many of them, I had photographed before, but never as a "job".
I worked diligently on the editing of the sessions, and most of the final products have hit the worthy hands of my clients.
I truly appreciate everyone, who came out on Saturday. Your show of support and trust are very humbling. I hope to see all of you again soon for more photographs. If you are happy with my work, be sure to tell your friends about me. We do have a referral program in effect. Also don't forget about our Black Friday through Cyber Monday sale.
God bless!
Be well,
Nicole

I cannot aptly express my gratitude to each and every one of you, my clients, family, and friends, for making Nicole Dalton Photography a success from the start! It is because of you that I am able to continue on this path, and it pleases me to announce the new things going on here.
I have had so many of you ask me about offering standard packages in addition to my A la carte items, and I have put together three print packages to choose from. Take a look at all of my session and prints pricing for up-to-date information here.
I have also decided to offer an additional package option with my Christmas
mini sessions. You may now choose to have 5 to 10 photos in an online gallery, paired with 1-8x10, 2-5x7, and 16 wallets...all for $75!
Additionally, I now offer Model Release forms on my web site. You may download, print, and complete the release form that applies to you (either for the upcoming Christmas mini sessions or a regular session). Be sure to bring your form with you the day of your session, so your online previews can be made available promptly. Don't want your photos to be posted online? That's okay too. You can choose to opt out of having your photos displayed online (also on the Model Release form).
Now for a very exciting new offering - Luxe frames to perfectly complement your new photos! These ornate frames turn your photos into a work of art. Luxe frames are available in three sizes, four styles, and five colors. Get in touch with me for more information about these gorgeous frames, at [email protected].
Please subscribe to Nicole Dalton Photography on Facebook to stay abreast of current promotions and fun giveaways! This past week, I awarded $10 off my session fee to a new client. I have had a super-busy three days, and I have enjoyed it SO MUCH! On Friday, I got to spend a good chunk of the afternoon with my first-cousin and her ADORABLE little one for pictures that turned out amazingly-well. He has a million expressions, and I tried to capture each one. What a fun way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon!
On Saturday, I was blessed to be a part of something very special. I took part in sessions to benefit the Homa Bay Orphanage in Kenya. I am so glad that my husband's cousin, Sarahbeth, asked me months ago if I would like to be a part of
such a great event. I enjoyed meeting everyone, and photographing them. It was about 40 degrees, and for the last 2 1/2 hours of the day, we had off and on rain to contend with; but everyone still put on their best smiles, and all of the pictures from those sessions turned out better than I could have imagined.
After Sunday School and church with my kids on Sunday, I was off to the Poe Plantation to photograph another cousin of my husband's, Veronica, and her family. I swear they had been practicing, because we were finished in about 35 minutes. Their images too, turned out gorgeous. This was my first session at a client's home, so it was a little different for me. Veronica has some great scenery and a terrific family. I enjoyed chatting with her after the shoot was over, while our five combined kids played together.
I now have nearly 200 Facebook (www.facebook.com/NDaltonPhoto) fans, and I've booked three new clients that I've never met before, upon the referral of other clients. It appears that this photography gig may be taking off, just as I have wondered for YEARS if it would do, should I ever start my own business. It's been smooth sailing so far, and I feel incredibly blessed at this point in my life. God is so good to me!
God bless you!
Be Well,
Nicole

I have my Christmas Mini Session sets en route. I can’t wait to share a sneak peek with everyone who has booked a session. I know everything is going to turn out beautifully. These sets will make gorgeous Christmas cards, as well as prints to give as gifts or to keep for yourself. I also offer lots of specialty items that I welcome you to inquire about. I can do metal Christmas ornaments, gallery-wrapped canvas, albums/books, and Luxe frames, just to name a few.
I am honored to be serving my community, and look forward to having you as a client for many years to come.
God Bless You!
Be well,
Nicole
]]>Today was a day of firsts. It was the first time (at least in a long time) that I called off my other job as a Registered Nurse due to accumulated snowfall. Today was the first time that I can recall having around 4 inches of heavy, wet snow before Halloween. And today was the first time that I, as Nicole Dalton Photography, got to take part in a snow day session. Having my precious children as my subjects made it all the more enjoyable!
I suppose all of the cold, snowy weather got me to thinking about how I would like to help many of you cross an item off your "Christmas to-do list" early, by offering a Christmas Mini Session.
I am offering 2 options with my Mini Session, so please be sure to read on for lots of info. I will announce times very soon, so be ready to request your time slot as quickly as possible, as I expect slots to fill right away.
UPDATE: MINI SESSIONS WILL BEGIN AT 11:00 A.M., AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH 5:00 P.M.!
E-mail [email protected] to reserve your time.
I have many plans for this blog over the next several weeks. I intend to make posts offering photography tips, inspiration, sneak peeks, and life in general. I hope that I can always offer things you all will find informative and enjoyable. If there is anything in particular that you would like for me to post about, please let me know. I love to interact with others who are as passionate as I am about photography!
With that being said, I hope this post finds all of you well, warm, and wonderfully blessed. I have now officially gotten my feet wet with another first for today--my first blog entry.
God Bless You!
Be Well,]]>
